      How has Football/(Soccer) changed throughout the years?

New players come and go bringing changes upon what we call the beautiful game. This game dates back to over 2000 years ago and was played by China during the second and third centuries BCE. It has changed in countless ways from on the field and how it is handled off the field. Also about how fans have become connected to their teams. A Lot of other stuff have changed like technology such as VAR(Video Assistant Referee) which helps referees make choices. Why so many changes you say? Well this is because it helps stabilize and make the game fair to both teams. Inside the field isn’t the only thing that makes Football famous. Social media is also a big factor in the game as there are a lot of fans. There is a lot of competition between multiple teams. Some famous rivals are FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. Games between them are called El Classico. THis game gets a lot of attention from the fans because of such a huge rivalry.

Apart from the games, what about the players? Many famous players on social media such as C. Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who dominated the 2010s. Other than these 2 there are some more famous players apart from the influence of social media. Such as Edson Arantes do Nascimento nicknamed Pele also known as the GOAT(Greatest of All Time) of football. He retired and died in 2022. Other famous players are Cryuff who created the new style of football also known as the godfather of football or Maradona known for his great dribbling skills. 

From Technology and Famous players, strategies are needed for each team to win their matches. Strategies such as knowing your opposition's next moves or having a good formation as a strategic advantage to win the game. Why are formations so important? Well formations are important because it helps pressure defense and help set up easier goals.

Do the players receive any award for doing good in their teams or nation or as a player themselves? Yes, they do, such as the world cup. If you win the world cup with your team it is a very hard achievement and the best national team by 2023 is Brazil because they have accomplished the most at national level. At the team level, Real madrid have won the most awards and are considered one of the best. Just players themselves Messi has won the most awards racking up 44 awards. 

If all of this is happening, is Football growing in popularity? I would hope it is because as more players such as Messi and C. Ronaldo leaving Europe, they bring their influence with them, growing the sport in popularity. Like Messi went to America to play at Inter Miami making it grow in popularity in America and C. Ronaldo went to Saudi Arabia to play at Al Nassr, growing its popularity in Saudi Arabia. If more influential players move to other countries it would help grow the influence of Football and its rules and would help new amazing stars to rise.
